One day an idea came into William’s mind:If the Boster was converted into a hardtop convertible then the car could be collected almost permanently, again resulting in even better body lines, it wasn’t an easy thing to make this happen as it would have involved a lot of development work, including obtaining accurate bodywork data, the good news is that William, and their R&D team, were able to do all of this, they purchased a 718 Boxster and used it for development – removing the soft top as well as the rear trunk lid and scanning the 3D data, which lays the foundation for whether the final product will fit or not, and soon the development team realized that the curvature of the –Boxster’s windows were not curved like the 918’s-they were elliptical, and the team immediately purchased a pair of Cayman windows and replaced them with Boster’s. The team was able to get the data they needed to develop the Boxster.
After a month of design time, during which the team discussed and adjusted the design, the final result was perfect!
*For fitment: it fits 718/981 Boxster and Spyder.
*For installation requirements: you will need to remove the entire convertible top structure, as well as the tailgate cover, and the rear plastic cover of the convertible roll cage, you will need to replace a pair of window panes, as well as replace the center button panel without the convertible buttons, and the brake lights will not be retained in the new kit location, but rather we will move the brake lights over the tailgate/diffuser.
*For the convertible top mechanism: the same opening/closing method as the 918, manual removal/installation of the convertible top, the convertible top consists of two parts, you will be able to put the convertible top mechanism into the trunk/passenger seat, the convertible top will be fastened with a locking mechanism.
*For product material: we will design two materials: 3D printing material, fiber coating based/carbon fiber based, for the frame made of aluminum alloy/steel, for the convertible top will be filled with acoustic material, for the windows/convertible top structure will be designed with sealing rubber ring.
*Time to market: We have produced samples and expect to complete trial assembly before 2026. If everything goes well, we will start mass production.
